Why Men Must Join the Gender Equality Revolution
Book reviews
By: Michael Kaufman
Men Can Lead Equal Rights Movements
Simply put, this book is great as a starting point for men interested in how the patriarchy works, how it defines US, and what it even is. Although repetitive at some points, Kaufman makes a great argument for men to not only get involved, but to lead gender equality and equal rights movements.
Double-edged Sword
With his easy to understand and conversational writing style, we can grapple, engage, and digest his many points made and data used. With women’s status in society there remains a double-edged sword, men then play the role of the idiot husband, absentee father, the sports addict with his “man cave,” etc. Let’s give each other more credit, shall we?
An Easy Read
If you are looking for a quick, easy read, this is your book. If you are looking for more concrete actions that men can start taking, performing, and engaging with every day, this is your book. If you are actively engaged with feminist movements and have read about gender equality before, then perhaps gift this book to someone who needs a quick update and a guiding voice, because Kaufman is a great director.
If I could describe this book in one word, that word would be, “relevant.” •
