In this week’s podcast Breakfast With a CEO, hear from Thomas Høgebøl—founder and CEO of NoA, Nordic Alliance.
In 2012, Høgebøl resigned from a top position in the international advertising agency McCann after seven years. At the time he gave up a financially secure future to create a new company. In 2014 Høgebøl launched Nordic Alliance, NoA—an independent marketing and communications company.
The Best Players in the Nordic Countries
For several years, international and especially American companies, had cherry picked the talent from the creative industry in the Scandinavian countries.
The Scandinavian region is a small region, but it is also very tech focused, and thus has become a testing ground for big platforms and mobile operators. As Nordic advertisers did not have the same market reach as many of the international companies, the Nordic advertisers were also forced to think creative. By creating NoA, Høgebøl also made sure that the Nordic market could keep the talent here.
Passion for Your Work
Thomas Høgebøl believes passion is the most important quality you can have as a leader. If you have passion for what you do, you work is not just a job, but something that matters to you. The leader Høgebøl looks up to Sir Martin Sorrell, the media mogul, a man who at the age of 76 is still going strong and creating new companies.
A Company Dedicated to Equal Opportunities
NoA holds one of the highest scores on the SHE Index. Høgebøl says that the company has had focus on both talent as well as equality, although they had a challenge in the beginning considering that many of the companies that became a part of the NoA were founded and owned by men. In order to establish equality among employees, Høgebøl believes it is important to give the same possibilities to both women and men to reach their goals and ambitions.
And what would be Thomas Høgebøls legacy? Listen to the episode and find out. •
